Other factors and conditions that may cause tinnitus
As mentioned on the tinnitus page, the exact cause of tinnitus is unknown, but there are several conditions and disorders that have been proven to play a role in causing tinnitus. These include:
Diabetes
Thyroid problems
Anemia
Disorders of the heart and blood vessels, particularly in the head
An autoimmune disorder (systemic lupus erythematosus)
Marijuana is also known to worsen pre-existing cases of tinnitus.
