Many people who have sinusitis are also afflicted with the terrible bouts of hay-fever. In fact many cases of sinusitis may be the result of repeated bouts of hay-fever. When the mucus membranes are subjected to continuous irritation by allergens they react by swelling and production of large amounts of mucus. This excessive and chronic swelling and mucus production can result in obstruction of mucus flow via the small openings that drain the sinuses. The net result is blocked sinuses with lots of mucus. Sometimes the sinuses begin to drain either through the nose or post nasally (back of throat) and the mucus often appears colorless or white. But in many instances they may become infected by bacteria as mucus is rich in polysaccharides, just the food bacteria love! If this happens in a blocked sinus there is tremendous pain and discomfort and if the sinus does not drain, the mucus becomes thick and even more difficult to discharge, which means more pain. This has been the experience of countless of patients and change of seasons and spring seems to be the prime time for hay-fever bouts for many.
We have carefully formulated this remedy understanding the relationship between hay-fever and sinusitis and it has been fine tuned over the years by clinically evaluating its benefit for patients. Sabadilla Offiicinarum
It is also known as Cevadilla or Asagraea. It is a plant that is indigenous to Mexico and the homeopathic tincture is prepared from the seeds.
Sabadilla addresses hay-fever like symptoms which include; sneezing; a runny nose; watery nasal discharge with severe frontal headaches, itching in the nose and soft palate that might extend to the ear. Sometimes there is a feeling of dullness and oppression of the frontal sinus.
Arundo Donax
It is a homeopathic preparation made from the reed. There are symptoms of hay-fever like itching of palate and eyes; itching of nostrils and roof of mouth; sneezing and a headache that starts in the back of the head but settles in the frontal sinuses and especially the sides.
Ailanthus Glandulosa
It is known as the Chinese Sumach or Tree of Heaven. The mother tincture is prepared from the fresh open flowers. It is indigenous to Mulucca Islands and was brought to the U.S.A. as a shade tree. It is a very poisonous tree but when prepared homeopathically into a remedy, it is rendered non-poisonous.
Addresses symptoms where there is swelling of the pharynx (back of throat) and lymph glands. Helps soften tough mucus that leads to blockage of the sinuses. It is also a great detoxifier preventing infection.
Aralia Racemosa
Commonly known as the American Spikenard plant from the family Araleacae.
Symptoms include hay-fever with copious, excoriating (burning) nasal discharge, salty acrid taste, frequent sneezing. Can often result in a spasmodic cough and asthma (in those who have asthma). Sneezing can often be triggered by the least draft or current of air.
Sinapis Nigra
The remedy is manufactured from the black mustard seeds. Hay-fever symptoms with mucus discharge that is scant but burning, nostril may become stopped up and tendency of pressure over the sinuses.
Allium Cepa
It is the red onion and the tincture is prepared from the fresh red bulb.
Treats hay-fever that starts as a catarrhal (egg white like mucus) coryza which begin s with sneezing and then results in a clear mucus discharge that is copious and drips from the nose which may be burning and irritates the upper lip. The eye discharge is profuse but is bland.
The increased secretions when not treated can lead to blockage, infections and a chronic sinusitis
Wyethia
Commonly known as the poison-weed but the homeopathic preparation of it renders it harmless but therapeutically effective.
It is also a useful remedy for hay-fever where there is itching in the back of the throat. There is often an associated pharyngitis (sore throat).

SinusWars2-Description
Sinusitis is one of the commonest medical conditions seen in practice. Patients often complain that one of the worse things of having sinusitis is dealing with the dreaded mucus that never seems to stop. Constant wiping of the nose or clearing of the throat causes such embarrassment at the work place and even socially and this seems to go on forever. Sadly not many things seem to work. In the region of our practice this is a common presentation.
We are confronted with this problem daily and over time have found a formula that addresses this production of copious amounts of mucus either post nasally (back of throat) or through the nose. The formula is intended to address all types of discharges (clear, watery, yellow, yellow-green or green mucus). In some instances patients complain that the mucus looks and smells infected, which this formula also addresses.
Patients who also complain of tenderness or pain in the cheek bone and of the sinuses in general will benefit from this remedy. This remedy is designed to "dry up" the sinuses but in some cases the discharge will actually get worse (a few days) before it gets better as the remedy is causing the body to eliminate. The swelling of the mucus membranes will subside and begin to heal and the cells in the mucus membranes will decrease production of mucus.

Kalium Chloratum
The homeopathic remedy is made Potassium Chlorate (KClO 3 ) where it is first triturated.
Treats irritation at root of nose with sneezing, catarrh and profuse mucus which either discharges from the nose or post nasally (back of the throat). Sometimes
Hydrastis Canadensis
It is commonly known as Golden Seal or Orange Root. It is a perennial plant found in the U.S.A. and Canada . The homeopathic mother tincture is prepared from the fresh roots of the plant.
It is useful for mucus conditions of the nose and throat (also for other mucus production in lungs, gut etc.). The mucus is viscid, tenacious and ropy. The discharge is usually yellow. There is profuse discharge of thick yellow stringy mucus discharge from the nasal passage or there is hawking of the yellow viscid mucus from the posterior nares and fauces (post-nasal/back of throat)
Kalium Jodatum
Also known as Potassium Iodide, Kali Hydriodicum, Formula K1 or KI. It is a chemical salt of Potassium and Iodine and homeopathic triturations are prepared using sugar of milk up to 3CH potency.
Used when there is a discharge of thick yellow mucus or when there is a discharge from the nose that is running and like clear water. The nasal sinuses may feel as if they are heated or one is aware of irritation of the nasal sinus. The discharge from the nose may be like burning water making the skin sore. Often there is a nasal voice and a headache.
Manganum Chloratum
Can have either dry or fluent coryza and there is often loss of smell. There is a secretion of thick mucus post-nasally and painful tearing between root of nose and eyebrows.
Phosphorus
Made from the trituration of Red amorphous Phosphorous or it is dissolved in alcohol.
There is a presence of a constant profuse discharge of yellow, greenish or bloody mucus from nose or posterior nares. A useful remedy when there are nasal polyps or history of nasal polyps. There can be frequent sneezing and obstruction of the nose especially in the morning.
Lemna Minor
It is commonly known as Duckweed and the homeopathic tincture is made using the whole plant.
Lemna Minor has a special affinity for nasal tissue and is excellent in cases of nasal obstruction and catarrh. It is also useful for those who have had or have nasal polyps. Characteristically there is profuse yellow nasal discharge which may be muco-purulent (mucus mixed with pus) that may give bad breath, and often there is a build up of crusts in the nose.
Pulsatilla
It is commonly known as the Wind Flower and also as Anemone. It is indigenous to central and Northern Europe . The homeopathic tincture is prepared from the whole plant when it is flowering
Pulsatilla is effective to treat a nasal or post nasal discharge especially for yellow or greenish yellow discharges. Often the discharge is worse in the morning. There may also be pain at the root of the nose and between the eyes. The patient often complains of diminished smell and sometimes of swelling of the nose. Warm rooms may affect their breathing and their symptoms may improve in the open air.
Arsenicum Jodatum
The homeopathic remedy is prepared from Iodide of Arsenic (Chemical Form A 8 I 3 ). As with all substances, the homeopathic preparation renders this substance non-toxic and safe to use as a medication. It is found as orange colored crystals and is soluble in alcohol and water from which the homeopathic substance is prepared
It is excellent in treating chronic nasal catarrh whether nasally or post nasally. Often the mucus looks and feels gluey and appears like yellow honey.
Pyrogenium
Pyrogenium is a homeopathic preparation known as a nosode.
Pyrogenium is added to the formula to act as an anti-infective agent as it is effective as a preventative and a treatment of infections.

This formula is similar to sinuswars2 and is used often as a complement to SinusWars2. When these two remedies come up in the remedy finder it is highly recommended that use them together. In our experience the best results were always obtained when the two remedies were used in conjunction for cases copious mucus discharge either nasally or post-nasally.
It addresses a sinusitis with copious amounts of mucus either post-nasally or through the nose. The mucus can sometimes look and smell infected and usually there is bad breath associated with it. If your mucus is not infected this remedy will still work as the combination of remedies used covers a wide variety of discharges The mucus can be watery or thick and is usually of a yellow, yellow-green or green color. The discharge may even look like it has pus in it. Often there is pain in the maxilla (cheek bones). The suppuration (formation and discharging of mucus) is more intense with free discharging of mucus or the nose may become completely stopped with lots of post-nasal discharging.

SinusWars3-Ingredients, what they do and why is it used?
Hepar Sulphuris Calcarea
Commonly referred to as Hepar Sulph by homeopaths and is also known as Sulphuret of Lime. It is prepared from a mixture of calcium from oyster shells with flowers of sulphur by trituration.
For cases of sinusitis where the sinus and nose feel inflamed and discharging of mucus that is either infected or smells. Even inspiration or slightest touch over the sinuses may cause pain or discomfort. Many patients will have chronic swelling of the lymph nodes of the head and neck. An extremely useful remedy promoting discharge of the sinuses which are tense and blocked.
Calcarea Carbonica
It is also known as Calcarea Ostrearum, Calcium carbonate or carbonate of lime (chemical formula CaCO 3 ). It is a homeopathic preparation from the middle calcium layer of the oyster shell. The calcium is triturated to produce the homeopathic remedy.
Calcarea Carbonica treats inflammation of the sinuses and nose. There is swelling and pain in the nose and sinuses. There may be a fetid odor from the nose and there is often obstruction by yellow fetid mucus that may contain pus. The patient complains of a post nasal drip that has a funny taste. Often there is crusting and ulceration of the nasal mucosa
Calcarea Fluoricum
It is also known as Calcium Fluoride, Fluoride of Lime (chemical formula CaF 2 ). The homeopathic remedy is prepared by first triturating pure fluoride of lime according to methodology laid down in homeopathic pharmacopoeias.
Calcarea Fluoricum is used to treat sinusitis with copious offensive thick yellow or greenish yellow nasal catarrh or post-nasal catarrh. It is effect in dislodging stubborn sticky mucus
Calcarea Phosphoricum
It is also known as Calcium Phosphate, Phosphate of lime and precipitated phosphate of calcium [chemical formula Ca 3 (PO 3 ) 2] . The remedy is prepared by trituration according to the homeopathic pharmacopoeia.
A useful remedy when there is chronic mucus flow with lots of sneezing. There may sometimes be streaks of blood in the mucus. Characteristically there is copious discharge in the cold which ceases in a warmer environment. There may be a history of nasal polyps. There is pain in the sinus especially from right to left
Manganum Aceticum
Known chemically as Acetate of Manganese or Manganous Acetate. Chemical formula Mn(C 2 H 3 O 2 ) 2 4H 2 O. This chemical is triturated according to the homoeopathic pharmacopoeia to prepare the homeopathic remedy.
It treats sinusitis which has a thick mucus secretion; there is often loss or diminished smell. Used to treat the pain between the eyes and root of the nose, in cases where the ethmoid sinuses are primarily affected. There may be obstruction of the nose with a post- nasal drip.
