Q. What is sinusitis?

A. Sinusitis is any inflammation of the nasal sinuses (Nasal sinuses are hollow cavities of the skull bones located around the nose and behind the ears).
Any inflammation of the nasal sinuses may be due to a viral, bacterial/ fungal infection or an allergic reaction. Acute sinusitis is a short-term condition. Chronic sinusitis is characterized by at least four recurrences of acute sinusitis or sinusitis which has lasted longer than 6 months.
